Finding Elphaba is a sanctuary for Black women to reclaim their power, prioritize their well-being, and share their own Becoming Elphaba stories—personal narratives of transformation, resistance, and self-discovery. Inspired by the themes of Wicked and the iconic resilience of Shirley Chisholm’s “unbought and unbossed” ethos, this platform is dedicated to creating a space where Black women can be unapologetically themselves, free from the burdens of white-centered expectations. It is a call to disengage from the harmful cycles of teaching white people about racism and to channel that energy into nurturing our own lives and communities.
Rooted in somatic abolitionism, as championed by Resmaa Menakem, Finding Elphaba provides tools and resources to help Black women heal from internalized racism, reduce the impact of allostatic stress caused by misogynoir, and learn techniques to successfully disengage from white women’s nonsense. Drawing from the work of Kenneth Hardy, the channel will also explore the complexities of Black folks' responsibilities in conversations about race, offering guidance on how to navigate these moments with care and self-preservation. Through these practices, we aim to create pathways for healing that are deeply rooted in self and community care.
This platform is more than a space for storytelling—it is a movement towards liberation. Finding Elphaba is a celebration of Black women’s strength, a resource for healing, and a beacon for transformative growth. By prioritizing our wellness, embracing somatic practices, and fostering a community of shared wisdom, this channel seeks to inspire a generation of Black women to be truly unbothered, unbossed, and unapologetically whole.
